SAD: Maurizio Sarri gives clear update on Mateo Kovacic’s injury After Cardiff City Defeat

Sunday, 16 September 2018

Chelsea stormed to a comfortable win over Cardiff in the end, and it was another positive day out at Stamford Bridge for Maurizio Sarri and his players.

The Italian coach doesn’t look to have much to worry about at the moment – his tweaks to the team are producing results, and the Blues look really dangerous going forwards.

One black mark in an otherwise Blue sky was the departure of Mateo Kovacic early in the second half. The Croatian picked up an injury and was replaced by Ross Barkley in the 49th minute.

But Sarri has just been speaking in his press conference, and he’s said it doesn’t look bad:

That’s a huge relief. We’re really rolling now, and we need to keep this XI as settled as possible. He will likely be rested in midweek anyway, so he’ll have a full week to recover.
